The Academic Staff Union (ASUP), Yaba College of Technology chapter on Monday withdrew its services from the part-time programme in the college.
Mr Nureni Yekini, Chairman of ASUP at Yabatech made the decision public to newsmen after stakeholders meeting in Lagos.
The chairman announced that the decision was as a result of a shortfall in the payments of staffs wages and allowances. He made it clear that all part-time lectures in Yabatech will be suspended until further notice.
The NEWS agency of Nigeria also reports that the congress reached the decision following the many complaints from members over the shortfall in payments of wages and allowances by the school management.
“We have been trying to resolve it internally, but as at today, all academic staff in Yaba College of Technology have withdrawn their services from the part-time until those issues are addressed.
“We have been on it for long. On July 5, we discovered this amputated wages and we wrote the management immediately, but till today, the management has not responded to our letter,’’ he said.
